The Carrboro Citizen (2007)
The Carrboro Citizen is a weekly newspaper that serves the town of Carrboro, NC. The paper uses WordPress to run its website. I designed and built this site as part of a school project during the Fall of 2007. It was first attempt at building a newspaper website on the WordPress platform, and I learned much in the process. I kept a blog throughout the development of the site.
The Carrboro Citizen used this design for 2 and a half years (December 2007- March 2010). It won a NC Press Association Award for General Website Excellence in 2008 (3rd place) and 2009 (first place).
In March of 2010, around the date of the paper’s third anniversary, The Carrboro Citizen switched a beta version of Citizen Press, an open-source newspaper theme framework that I am currently developing for WordPress. You can read more about Citizen Press here.
